Rockets and Light: Illuminating the Universe
Rockets & Light: Illuminate the Universe will feature interactive activities where participants learn about rockets by building and launching their own. Guests will also “color your world—universe” by creating light-up planets to take home, blending creativity, science, and imagination in a glowing celebration of space exploration.
At the core of the event is an interactive rocket engineering experience. Participants will explore the fundamental principles of rocketry, including thrust, aerodynamics, propulsion, and stability. Through guided instruction and hands-on design, learners will build their own rockets using age-appropriate materials and engineering concepts. They will test, adjust, and launch their creations in a supervised launch zone, experiencing firsthand the excitement of liftoff and the practical application of scientific principles. This process encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and resilience—key competencies that align with Remake Learning’s focus on active, engaged learning.
Complementing the engineering component is a creative design experience titled “Color Your World—Universe.” In this activity, participants will design and construct light-up planets using vibrant paints, artistic techniques, and LED elements. As they craft their glowing celestial bodies, learners will explore concepts related to planetary science, light, and the diversity of worlds within our solar system and beyond. This artistic component reinforces that STEM is not only about calculations and formulas—it is also about creativity, innovation, and vision. Each illuminated planet becomes a take-home keepsake that symbolizes both scientific learning and personal expression.
The event environment will reflect the spirit of exploration and wonder. Facilitators will guide participants through hands-on stations, encourage inquiry-based learning, and prompt meaningful conversations about space exploration, careers in STEM, and the power of imagination. By integrating rocket launches with glowing planetary art, the program creates a multi-sensory experience that engages a wide range of learning styles and interests.
Rockets & Light: Illuminate the Universe is intentionally designed to be inclusive and accessible to families, students, and community members of all backgrounds. The event fosters intergenerational engagement, encouraging adults and children to build, create, and learn side-by-side. This collaborative approach strengthens confidence in young learners while reinforcing the importance of curiosity and lifelong learning within the community.
Aligned with the goals of Remake Learning Day, this program highlights innovative, hands-on educational experiences that connect science to real-world applications. Participants will leave not only with a launched rocket and a glowing planet, but also with a deeper understanding of scientific principles, renewed excitement for exploration, and inspiration to continue learning beyond the event.
By combining engineering, creativity, and discovery, Rockets & Light: Illuminate the Universe transforms space exploration into an accessible, joyful experience that illuminates both minds and imaginations.
